The government of Romania has just approved and will enforce the following measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and which shall apply from March 22, 2020, at 22:00 (Romania time). Many measures will affect your daily life and it is important you familiarize yourselves with what is being implemented.

We would like to draw your attention to the following measures:
Art. 5: During the hours 22.00 – 06.00, movement of persons outside the home/household is only allowed for special reasons (refer to link above).
Art. 6 : Foreign citizens are forbidden to enter Romani’s territory except under very precise circumstances (see link above).

Romanian authorities have also decided that people in self-isolation leaving their homes without prior approval of the authorities will be placed under quarantine. As well, people who leave a quarantine facility without authorization will have their quarantine extended by another 14 days and people leaving self-isolation or quarantine will be fined and could face criminal prosecution.

Romanian authorities will have to identify and help the elderly people over 65 who don’t have any support and provide them with support so as to minimize their movements outside their homes. If this is your case you should contact the Covid-19 Helpline to self-identify: 0800-800-358.
